New website launched for boomers and seniors

The Beacon newspapers has launched an all-new, interactive website at www.theBeaconNewspapers.com — geared to people over 50 and those who love them.

In addition to substantive features covering health, financial, housing, career, volunteer, travel and arts topics, the site also offers blogs, visitor-initiated forums, a searchable Resource Guide, useful links, comics, and coming soon entertaining puzzles & jokes.

The website features stories from both the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore editions of the Beacon — award-winning free monthlies targeted to boomers and active seniors — as well as opportunities for comment and lively discussion.

"For over 20 years, the Beacon has provided well-written, pertinent information to older adults and their families," said Stuart Rosenthal, the Beacon’s publisher. "With our new website, we are able to offer them opportunities to interact with the Beacon staff and with each other."

In addition to event listings drawn from the print editions of the Beacon, the website allows viewers to submit information about other events their clubs and organizations present.

The site also includes a useful Resource Guide, providing information and links to hundreds of government agencies, nonprofits and businesses that offer services and products for older adults and caregivers. The Guide will be updated and expanded on an ongoing basis.

Advertisers can reach the thousands of users of the site through both banner ads and "advertorials" in the popular Resource Guide. For more information, contact the Beacon at (301) 949-9766 or via Contact Us page.
