You can read the current print issue of the Beacon (and past issues going back to September) here on this website. Choose Newspaper from the dropdown menu at the top of the page, and select either the Washington or Baltimore edition. Scroll down the right side of the page to Print Edition, and click on the image.

Our online editions are hosted by the website Issuu. It can be a bit confusing at first to understand how to navigate through the many features of Issuu online editions. The best way is to play with the various buttons and arrows and move your mouse around the page to get the hang of it. (Use the Escape key on your computer at any time to return to the Beacon site.)

The following questions and answers may help you get started:

Q: How do I find the issue I want to view?

A: Click on the small cover of the issue you want to read.

Q: How do I move to the next page or get to the page I want?

A: There are several ways to navigate through the paper. Click on the thumbnail size pages at the bottom of the screen. You can also use the arrows in the gray box above the paper to move forward and backward. The page number you are on will be displayed to the right.

Q: How do I enlarge the image for easier reading?

A: Click on the page you want. When it appears on screen, click again and it will enlarge. It can be made even larger by clicking on the + sign in the black box that will appear at the top of the page. Moving your mouse will move the image around on your screen so you can read the full page. Click again to return to the small version.
You can also choose Fullscreen from the gray box at the top left for a larger version and enlarge it with the + sign. In addition, you can click on the page view icon next to Fullscreen and then choose Paper View. You can then scroll through all the pages vertically.

Q: Can I search for a particular topic or story?

A: Yes, but as with some other features of this website, the search function may vary depending on your Internet browser.
In general, look for a small magnifying glass and click on it to find a box in which you can enter your search term. (Do not type your search in the white box that says “Search Issuu” or you will be searching the thousands of publications hosted by the Issuu site.)
When you search using the magnifying glass icon, a small piece of text will appear with your search term highlighted. Click on the text for the full page that contains your search term. Click the arrow button to see more results from your search.

Q: How do I link to websites mentioned in the articles and ads appearing in your online printed editions?

A: Move your mouse over the website address to highlight it, then click with your mouse. A new page will open with the website you are looking for.

Q: How do I print a story or e-mail a link?

A: Click the Print button at the top of the screen to print a copy of the page you are viewing.
To e-mail a link to the page, click the envelope icon that says Share and fill in your name, the e-mail address(es) you are sending it to and a message (optional).
